Scry is a keyword action[1] that allows a player to look at a certain number of cards from the top of their library[2] and put them on the bottom of the library or back on top in any order.[1] It primarily features on instants[3] and sorceries[4], but has also appeared on creatures[5], artifacts[6], lands[7] (including a cycle first printed in Theros block[8]), and enchantments[9]. It is also part of the Vancouver mulligan[10].
The first cards with scry were designed by Aaron Forsythe and printed in Fifth Dawn[12].[2] It was then expanded on several years later in Future Sight[13],[3] and returned in Magic 2011[14][4] and Theros block.[5] It became evergreen in Magic Origins[17].[6][7] When the mechanic became evergreen some older cards like Soldevi Excavations and Opt were erratad to have the keyword.[8][11][15][16][18][19][20]
