In 2017, Taiwan citizens made 15,654,579 trips abroad, up 7.30% from the year before. Asia was the main destination (first stop on outbound flights), accounting for 91.05% of all trips, followed by the Americas (4.45%), Europe (3.17%), Oceania (1.18%), and other regions (1.5%).
        According to the findings of the Tourism Bureaus "R.O.C. 2017 Citizen Travel Survey Report," Japan received the highest proportion (36.2%) of R.O.C. citizens overseas trips, followed by China and Hong Kong. Of all overseas trips in the year, 31% were arranged as group trips or incentive trips, 41% were arranged entirely independently without using a travel agent, 19% were arranged partly through travel agents, and 9% were purchases of independent travel or flight + hotel packages.
