Dear reader: This article contains links to products and services that I may be compensated for, at no extra cost to you.
Taroko Gorge, Taiwan, sometimes called the Taiwanese Grand Canyon, is the country’s premier scenic attraction, along with Alishan and Sun Moon Lake. It tops my list of best places to visit in Taiwan if you want experience dramatic nature on a short, easy-to-plan trip from the capital. It can even be done as a day trip from Taipei, but staying for at least one night is better.[3][4][1][2]
For many visitors, if they only visit one destination outside of the Greater Taipei area, it is a trip to Hualien to see Taroko Gorge. Indeed, I even recommend Taroko Gorge as the one place you must visit outside of Taipei if you are only visiting Taiwan in 7 days[5]. Hualien and Taroko Gorge for solo or female travelers[6] is also extremely safe!
I’m also going to explain below why I think Island Life Taiwan Tours[7] offer the best Taroko Gorge tours available...
