While "Tell me" is grammatically correct, you will find the above form to be the most widely used. It is more compact and gets directly to the point.
In addition, "give me" eliminates the need to make a decision on the placement of the verb "are".
A personal observation: In English, less is more. It is a cultural trait of Americans to minimize the number of words that are needed to express a thought. Looking at the other side of the coin, Americans who are learning Spanish tend not to appreciate the eloquence and beauty with which thoughts are naturally expressed by those who grew up in a hispanic culture.
