Roxy Rocker is a rock pub that was opened in 1982 by former radio DJ Ling Wei. At that time, there were no pubs playing rock music in Taipei and so Ling decided to create a place for rock fans to enjoy their favourite music. The pub initially opened with only cola and soft drinks, but when visiting customers began commenting how strange it was to have an alcohol-free pub, Ling expanded the drinks offering.Renowned as the so-called Godfather of the Taiwanese rock scene, Ling has spent many years nurturing young talent including now well-known DJs such as DJ Makueyuen and DJ Randy. As a hub for rock music for the past 30 years, Roxy Rocker continues to garner the support of Taipeis music community.
