The Jue-Jiang Traditional Market in the Yancheng area is where many Kaohsiung locals tend to gather. Near here is Old Fart D.J. Bar, an establishment that plays music from the good old days. The owners of the bar, Eva and Tony, are both veteran DJs themselves. “We purposely this retro and friendly shopping street as the location for our bar,” says Eva. One of the main reasons they decided to open Old Fart D.J. Bar is that they wanted a space where they could enjoy the music they like more freely.
The long, narrow space is arranged with counter seating on the left and table seating on the right. Behind the bar counter is a kitchen area as well as a DJ booth. Inside you can see many of the records collected by the two owners, as well as a poster of Bob Marley, one of Tony’s most respected artists.
The music played here is a mix of western songs from the 1950s to 60s, Taiwanese campus folk songs, and more, regardless of genre, decade, or language.
